Going green is a word that is toted around everywhere these days. The aim of going green is to great a global lifestyle which is sustainable for the generations to come. Today, the world is much more environmentally conscious and the term going green has been replaced by the more apt sustainable in
most ads and campaigns.

Sustainable and going green basically refer to the same thing, but the term sustainability goes further
than green in the sense that it expects a standard of performance higher than normal. It expects
economies to be more efficient rather than just adopting eco friendly techniques.

Sustainable green Building is also super efficient and compares the life cycle of an average home with that of the life
cycle of the earth.

In a nutshell, with sustainable development, you have to ensure that the needs of today’s generation are
met fully without jeopardizing the resources and needs of the future generations to come.

Sustainable Green buildings have the following aspects:

* Energy harnessing through turbines and solar electricity panels ensuring electricity consumption is
zero

* Water harvesting and collection, even dirty water.

* Making an environment to live in that is comfortable and inviting.

Sustainable takes into account the human factor, as does green. Sustainable does not mean eliminating
comfort and looks. Sustainability must preserve comfort and looks to be successful. Things like air
content etc are important, but more so is creating a home which is well lit and is eco friendly. Though
creating a sustainable and green home might look daunting, but it is not as difficult as you think. Small
steps like planting trees, harvesting rain water and setting up solar panels can go a long way in doing
your bit.
