Effects of Global Warming

Global warming will result in the average temperature going up. This will cause sea levels to rise as the glaciers melt. Large areas of occupied land may disappear. Global weather patterns will change. For example, some regions may become prone to deadly storms. Rainfall patterns will change resulting in many areas becoming deserts and others converted into swamps due to excess rainfall. This will affect global agricultural output. Poor areas will experience famines and droughts. Millions may die due to starvation. Certain types of diseases will spread and all the accumulated affects may lead to mass extinction of many animal species.

Due to global warming the temperature of earth atmosphere increases to 2 degree every decade and will go on due to excessive emission of carbon dioxide gas. Leads to melting of polar ice causes invitation to other natural calamities like floods etc and also increases the sea water level. The further increase in the temperature leads to increase in the mean sea level causes engulf the low lying countries across the world.

Effect of global warming can also be seen on the animal kingdom as some animal species become extinct due to the loss of there natural habitat or inability to resist with frequent changes in the climate conditions especially the migratory birds which are seasonal and want colder environment for their survival. These birds help in seeding as well as planting the new trees by there eating habits.

Seasonal conditions are too affected by global warming like now days summers are getting longer than winters and even the rainfall become unpredictable. Now the behavior of monsoons become random as when it is required to have rainfall then there is nothing but when at the time of harvesting of crops, no rain is required then thunderstorms occurs. This also causes floods and other storms like the one in tsunami.

Introduction to new diseases due to global warming as bacteria becomes more efficient and thus replicates in faster rates in warmer temperature. Cold and viral are the two common diseases which transmit in very faster rate due to unpredictable weather conditions. These are called communicable diseases.

Global warming is also effecting the crop production, as the crops are getting destroyed by the sudden change in temperatures or sudden on set of rains. Mid latitude forests will experience decreased rainfall and an increased risk of drought, which in turn would allow forest fires to occur on larger scale, and more regularly. This releases more stored carbon into the atmosphere than the carbon cycle can naturally re-absorb, as well as reducing the overall forest area on the planet, creating a positive feedback loop.

Water scarcity: – Sea level rise is projected to increase salt-water intrusion into groundwater in some regions, affecting drinking water and agriculture in coastal zones. Increased evaporation will reduce the effectiveness of reservoirs. Increased extreme weather means more water falls on hardened ground unable to absorb it, leading to flash floods instead of a replenishment of soil moisture or groundwater levels. In some areas, shrinking glaciers threaten the water supply.
