Your property is your responsibility. You need to keep your yard and house looking nice, according to your local municipality rules. Those rules also include taking care of your property when you have a public sidewalk out front. There may be specific rules in your area, but generally the walk should be shoveled within 24 hours of the snowfall. Failure to do so could land you a ticket. But it could also get you sued.

When people walk on the sidewalk, typically they use caution. But if they were to slip and fall, then get hurt, the responsibility could fall on you. Some people would just accept the responsibility that they weren’t careful, but others would sue for damages.

You could be liable for their medical bills, lost wages from work and any other treatments they require in order to heal their injury. You might even have to pay pain and suffering damages above and beyond what their actual expenses are. Getting sued can then cost you additional money if you need time off from work, you need to hire a lawyer and then you have to actually come up with the money. Keeping the sidewalk cleaner in the first place would have been a lot easier.

Keep it Clean

When you make an effort to clean off the sidewalk, your driveway or parking lot, it is more difficult for someone to be able to sue you. Hiring a snow plow service will ensure that your snow is removed in a timely manner. When you do the best you can, even in adverse conditions, then the person is also expected to use care when walking or driving on your property. If they slip and fall on a sidewalk that was cleared off and salted, then you have done what you were supposed to do. Individual government agencies might have more specific rules to follow, so make sure you understand them before winter sets in and the snow flies.

If you do have an accident on your property, make sure you have your own set of photos to show that you did have the snow cleared from the area. Salting can also be done to remove the ice faster, but if the temperature doesn’t cooperate, there might just be ice on everyone’s property. Removing the snow or having a professional do it for you as soon as possible after a storm can prevent many accidents, which in turn would prevent you from being sued.

Of all 40 species of deer around the world, only one doesn’t have antlers. The Chinese Water Deer has numerous anatomical abnormalities, such as downward-pointing canine teeth, but is still classified as a deer.

The smallest deer is the South American pudu, which weighs only 20 pounds and reaches to just 14-15 inches at its shoulder. Moose, on the other hand, are the largest deer. The North American and European moose can reach as high as 7 ½ feet at their shoulder and tip the scales at 1,700 pounds.

Take that Deer-Proof Plants

Plants have defenses that prevent them from being tasty to deer. However, a hungry deer will eat anything. It’s not uncommon for deer to eat plants considered “deer-proof,” especially in the dead of winter when food is scarce.

The red deer, which is a relative to the North American elk, takes this a step further. It eats plants that aren’t just “deer-proof,” but poisonous to other deer as well.

Around the World

Deer can be found everywhere in the world except Australia and Antarctica. The reason they are native to all but these continents is due to the fact they can adapt to just about any habitat. They prefer to live in the area of habitat breaks, such as the spot between woods and croplands. This enables them to use the wooded areas for cover and the open areas for grazing.

Deer Repellent

Deer have a highly defined sense of taste and smell. There are deer repellent products that target both their sense of taste and smell. These are the most effective. Typically they contain putrescent eggs and capsaicin. The putrescent egg smells like rotting animal to the deer. They associate this smell with a predator being nearby, causing them to run away. The capsaicin is like putting hot sauce directly on their tongue. One taste, and they leave the treated plant alone. This type of dual targeting works well for all repellents, including rabbit repellent.

Below is a list of some simple changes that serve a great purpose.

• For cooking purposes, use of Bio-fuel is the best option even compared to electric stoves and LPG. This will save a great number of trees that are being cut down just for the purpose of fuel. It even controls the extent of hydrocarbons released in to the environment by use of LPG. Bio-fuel plants are cheap and easy to install.
• Adopt construction methods that make the building air-tight. This will reduce the energy costs used for heating purposes and even save the environment. Make use of construction material that is eco-friendly like greater recycling ability. Harness natural resources to maximum extent.
• Follow a green working environment. Some of the eco-friendly measures are to reduce the use of paper and fax machines, instead make efficient use of scanners, e-technology advancements like e-conference facilities, e-mail and fax modems. Make use of products to spread the message of being eco-friendly to the public.

Three core areas should be considered while choosing a fabric for landscaping.

3. Mesh should be fine enough to protect the growth of weed and grass but at the same time, its holes should allow air and water to permeate through it and reach the soil. Fabric should be able to breath, allow oxygen and required nutrients through it, and provide air and water to the soil in order to make the plants look healthy and long lasting so that they can sustain for a longer period. Average landscaping fabrics are distinguished by super quality fabrics due to this characteristic. Plastic sheets have failed to serve the purpose of deterring weeds. Although it doesn’t let weeds grow but it’s impossible for air and water to flow through it. Poor permeable fabrics may allow so much of water that the water may wash away everything present on surface of fabric like coverings or bark.

Global warming is a serious issue these days. With the increase in the use of automobiles as well as work load in industries this issue really needs to be considered. Well the key factor of producing the Global warming effect is carbon dioxide gas as well as methane gas and to control Global warming one has to control the emission of these gasses.

Government should take proper measures to protect trees as well as should take efforts in planting more trees by making public parks or environment parks.

Prohibiting green leaves broken from branches of trees, to burn by some uneducated gardeners as this increases the amount of carbon dioxide in atmosphere. Those leaves should be buried under soil so that it helps in improving the fertility of the soil.

Use cars and light trucks that get good gas mileage. In fact driving a sports utility vehicle adds to global warming and pollution. SUVs emit 40% more global-warming pollutants (28 pounds of carbon dioxide per gallon) and 50% more air pollution than the average car. An SUV is 4 times as likely to rollover in an accident. If car manufacturers were to increase their vehicle’s average gas mileage about 3 miles per gallon, country could save a million barrels of oil every day, thus reduces the oil costs annually.

Wind power is an abundant, clean and affordable alternative to coal and other fossil fuels and the cost of wind energy is now less than that of coal. The direct cost of energy from large wind turbines has dropped to three to four cents per kilowatt-hour, comparable with that from new pulverized coal power plants.
