Lawn grass is the plant that doesn’t require much water to live. Mowing effort and activities can be reduced this way since you may require mowing your lawn few times may be during summer time. This way, by consuming a lot of water, you can reduce your water bill every month.
Hardy plants should be selected for bushes around the home. Due to harmful chemicals in them, ground water and drinking water can become contaminated.

This effect affects the performance of green home. Correct landscaping is necessary to overcome this heat island effect. Plantation of shrubs, grass and hardy trees at a distance of 24 inches from house can control the process of heat transfer. West side of the green home or walkways should be planted with deciduous trees to keep the home and its surroundings cool. Although these trees might become a hindrance in the operations of solar panels installed for saving electricity.
A rain-barrel should also be installed while you plan for landscaping in your green home. A brilliant idea is to save run-off rainwater and free water for watering the plants in your lawn. Along with the rain barrel, the shaping of ground can be made available to the water coming from roof or due to a rainstorm, to be collected near the planted trees, shrubs and grass. This way the nature waters the plants itself and the water in there little drains dries out the last decreasing need of tap water.
